About Us

The Thornbury Fields Residents Association (RC) is a voluntary group of residents who work to represent the interests of homeowners on the estate. We liaise with FirstPort, our estate management company, and help ensure our community is well-maintained and a great place to live.

We can only represent the residents of Phases 1, 2, and 3 (Otter Way, Fox Close, Badger Road, Squirrel Cresent and Shrew Gardens) because Phase 4 falls under a separate management company organisation.

The Residents Association includes everybody living on the Thornbury Fields estate. Every household is automatically a member of the association.

The Steering Committee consists of the voted members who hold positions and act on behalf of the Residents Association to manage its day-to-day activities and represent the community to FirstPort.

Our Aims

  • Represent residents' interests in dealings with FirstPort and other service providers.
  • Ensure transparency in estate management charges and service delivery.
  • Organise community events and foster a strong sense of neighbourhood.
  • Maintain and improve shared green spaces, play areas, and communal facilities.
  • Provide a clear channel for residents to raise concerns and suggestions.

Benefits of a Residents Association

  • Collective voice — Greater influence when engaging with management companies and local authorities.
  • Cost scrutiny — The RC reviews service charges and budgets on behalf of all residents.
  • Community building — Events, newsletters, and shared projects bring neighbours together.
  • Problem resolution — A structured way to escalate issues that aren't being resolved.
  • Legal standing — Recognised Residents Associations have statutory consultation rights under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.
  • Resident-led — Committee members are voted in by you, the residents.
